Is CarFix free for car owners?
Yes, CarFix is completely free for car owners. You can search for shops, request quotes, book appointments, and manage your vehicles at no cost.
How do I get a quote for my repair?
Go to "Get a Quote", select your vehicle (or enter details manually), choose a service category, and describe what your car needs. Verified shops in your area will send you competitive quotes, usually within a few hours.
Can I compare quotes from multiple shops?
Absolutely. When you submit a quote request, multiple shops can respond with their pricing. You can compare them side by side, including labour costs, parts, and estimated completion time, before choosing the best option.
How do I book an appointment?
After accepting a quote, click "Book Appointment" to open the calendar. Pick a date and a 30-minute time slot within the shop's hours. You will receive a confirmation by email and SMS.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Most shops require a small deposit when you book to confirm your appointment. The deposit amount is set by the shop and shown before you pay. The remainder is paid after the repair is complete, either online or at the shop.
What payment methods are accepted?
Deposits are paid online via credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex). For the remainder after service, you can pay online or at the shop with cash, debit, credit, or e-transfer, depending on the shop's preference.
Can I cancel or reschedule my appointment?
Yes. You can cancel from your Bookings page before the appointment. To reschedule, cancel the current appointment and book a new time slot. Deposit refund policies vary by shop.
How does the vehicle garage work?
The garage stores your vehicles with their year, make, model, and mileage. It tracks maintenance schedules, recall alerts (via NHTSA), and health scores. You can add vehicles manually or by entering your VIN for automatic details.
Are the shops on CarFix verified?
Yes. Every shop goes through an admin review process before appearing on CarFix. Shops must have an active subscription, verified identity, and complete business profile. We also display real ratings and reviews from customers.
What if I am not satisfied with the repair?
CarFix displays each shop's warranty policy on their profile. If you have an issue, you can contact the shop directly through our messaging system or submit a support ticket for assistance.
Does CarFix work across all of Canada?
CarFix is available nationwide. We have shops listed in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec, and other provinces. Coverage grows as more shops join the platform.
What is the AI Assistant?
The AI Assistant helps answer car-related questions, like when to change your brake pads or what a dashboard warning light means. It can also help you find shops and start a quote request.
For Shop Owners
How do I list my shop on CarFix?
Register as a Shop Owner, complete your business profile (address, hours, services, photos), and submit for review. Our admin team reviews every application to ensure quality. Once approved and subscribed, your shop appears to customers.
How much does it cost?
CarFix offers three subscription tiers: Basic ($49.99/month), Pro ($79.99/month), and Elite ($119.99/month). Annual plans save about 15%. Each tier includes different features like priority listing, quote templates, and team member access.
What is included in each plan?
Basic includes your shop listing, quote management, appointment booking, and revenue dashboard. Pro adds priority listing, quote templates, and analytics. Elite adds unlimited templates, team members, and top placement in search results.
How do I receive customer quote requests?
When a customer submits a quote request for a service you offer in your area, you receive a notification by email and SMS. You can respond with your pricing breakdown directly from your shop dashboard.
How do payments work for shops?
Customer deposits go through Stripe and are deposited to your connected bank account. CarFix does not charge platform fees on transactions. You keep 100% of what customers pay, minus standard Stripe processing fees.
Can I manage my team on CarFix?
Pro and Elite plans support team members. You can invite staff by email, assign Manager or Staff roles, and control what they can access on your shop dashboard.
How do I manage my availability?
Set your regular hours in your shop profile. You can also block specific dates or time slots for holidays or capacity limits. Customers can only book during your available hours.
What is the digital vehicle inspection?
During a repair, you can create a digital inspection with photos, findings, and a body diagram. This is shared with the customer so they can see exactly what was found and approve or decline additional work.
How do reviews work?
After a completed appointment, the customer is invited to leave a star rating and written review. Reviews are displayed on your shop profile and factor into your search ranking.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Yes. You can change your plan at any time from your account settings. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period.
